Spherical Roller Bearings

Roller bearings — also known as rolling-element bearings — are similar to ball bearings in that they are designed to carry a load while minimizing friction. However, roller bearings transmit loads using cylinder rolling elements, rather than balls, to maintain the separation between moving parts of the bearing. These versatile bearings can contain single or multiple rows of rolling elements; multiple rows can significantly improve radial load capacity. Also, the use of different roller shapes can further reduce friction and support both radial and axial loads.

Roller bearings are used in rotary applications to replace sliding movement with low friction, rolling. To select the right roller bearing, one must determine the desired bearing life and a sufficient basic dynamic load rating to meet that life requirement. Spherical roller bearing has two rows of rollers, a common sphered outer ring raceway, and two inner ring raceways inclined at an angle to the bearing axis. The sphere’s center point in the outer ring raceway is the bearing axis. Therefore, the spherical roller bearings are self-aligning and insensitive to misalignment of the shaft relative to the housing, which can be caused, for example, by shaft deflection.

(1) Sealed spherical roller bearings

The sealed spherical roller bearing is a kind of spherical roller bearing that has sealing shields mounted on the external edge of both sides of the bearing. These protect against particles entering the bearing and act as a barrier against the lubricant leaving the bearing. Sealed spherical roller bearings can significantly increase bearing service life in contaminated environments. These bearings are pre-lubricated with specially formulated grease and packed with highly effective contact seals.

Sealed spherical roller bearings are suitable for various applications, including elevators, off-highway and agricultural machinery, fans and fluid machinery, food and beverage equipment, conveyors, and some small electric motors. (2) E type spherical roller bearings

E-type spherical roller bearings have two stamped window-type steel cages, an inner ring without flanges, and a guide ring centered on the inner ring (d>65 mm) or the cages (d >65 mm). They have an annular groove and three lubrication holes in the outer ring. E design bearings are indicated by the designation suffix E. All E design bearings have an optimized internal design for increased load-carrying capacity. The middle retaining ring close to the outer ring can improve the lubrication of the contact between the roller end face and the retaining ring. Its role is to reduce bearing friction, help guide the roller in the non-load area, and help it enter the load area. The length of the sub is increased, so the rated load has been dramatically improved. The usually rated load can be increased by 20% to 35%. E-type spherical roller bearings have exceptionally high load capacity, low torque, and a high-strength cage.

(3) CA type Spherical Roller Bearings

CA type Spherical Roller Bearing is a spherical roller bearing with a holding rib on the inner ring, a floating guide ring between the double-rows of rollers centered on the inner ring, and a brass double prong-type cage fixed on it – suffix. CA. Spherical roller bearings are robust, self-restraining construction assemblies with double-rows of symmetrical spherical roller bearings. The axis of the roller rows is inclined at an angle to the turning axis of the bearing. The raceway in the outer ring is spherically formed so that the double-row roller assembly can adjust itself easily in case of misalignment or shaft deflections. The extremely high load capacity, angle-adjustable self-adjusting roller bearings are used where high impact radial dynamic forces have to be absorbed, and misalignment or more considerable shaft deflections are expected. They exist in many designs – from standard bearings to industry-specific specialized bearings.
